Do you give classes in photography?
Funny you should ask. Yes, I like teaching. I charge $30 an hour and only work with one student at a time. My classes are pretty intense, so don't bother if you don't like to learn fast.

Do you photograph paintings and such artwork?
Yes. I love to play with color control and ultra-sharp lenses. I enjoy photographing jewelry and other sparkly, shiny things, where you have to control all the reflections and hot spots, not to mention the problems with depth of field.

Do you use digital or film in your studio, and are the photos in your gallery digital or film?
We use both--whichever the customer desires, and the photos on the walls are both.

What should I wear when I come in for a portrait?
Usually you're told to wear medium to dark monotones and matching colors if there are more than one of you and you want the image in color. This can be a good idea, although I've seen some great exceptions with people wearing big flowers and lots of stripes. Perhaps it's better to wear what you feel comfortable in, what you think looks good on you, what people will recognize you in.

how much do u charge for your restoration? plus is there a deffernt price for pic sizies?
Thanks for your question about restorations. Although we occasionally as little as $12 for a restoration, it's usually more than that. More complex jobs cost more, and you will have to show me the picture for a firm price quote. This price you are quoted pays for the restoration and one print any size up to 8x10. An 11x14 print costs $5 more and a 13x19 print costs $10 more. Prints bigger than 13x19 cost $15 per square foot over the cost of the restoration. Thank you for your interest.

I am interested in photo restoration. Please clarify, if the old picture has some type of "fungus?" you would remove that area of the photo and then paint in an appropriate correction? So you are restoring the actual picture? Would you also clean up the frame (family smoked) and replace the picture in the frame? Look forward to your response. Thanks,
Thanks for your inquiry. Our restorations are strictly a series of photographic processes, and your originals are touched as little as possible. Usually we do a high-resolution scan of your image and then manipulate it with Photoshop to improve the contrast, increase the sharpness, and fix the color. If the customer so desires, we can remove people from the picture or insert them into it. We can make the people in the image more attractive or even replace them with different people. In response to your final question, no, we normally do not do framing. There are a number of people in Escondido who do this better than I. Two of them are within a block of our studio.

I have an eye chart on card stock-type paper (10 1/2 x 22)and there is water damage on the bottom three lines (four inches). Do you restore only photos or is this something you could work on? Thanks. Sandy
Thanks for your (very interesting) question. It should be quite do-able. Please bring the chart by the studio when you have a chance.
